What is fiber optic lighting?

Fiber optic lighting is the process of using a light sources such as a light projector to transfer light through fiber optic cables without losing any or very little light energy. If fixtures are used the cable is connected to a number of light fixtures that disseminate the light over the required area. If a lateral cable is used then the cable itself disseminates the light.

Main Benefits:

Decorative effects: Fiber optics can be used to obtain a number of different decorative effects such as a sparkling star surface when using end lit cable, framing an object with Lateral fiber such as outlining the steps of a swimming pool.

Maintenance & Access: One conveniently sited light projector can power a number of spotlights or up to 30 meters of Lateral Fiber, thus reducing maintenance points drastically. And on the other hand the fiber cables need no maintenance at all.

Color control: When you add some simple accessories you can change and control the color of the light omitted from the fiber optics fixtures.

Safety: The light projector is the only component in the system requiring power. Therefore, fiber optic cables are inherently safe even if used under water. Also, they are safe in areas where children can reach them.

Energy Saving: Fiber optic systems will reduce energy consumption in most applications. This is particularly valid when lateral fiber (side lit) is used to replace neon installments.

Also, because the amount of electricity used to illuminate an area when using fiber optics is much less when using a conventional light sources.

Adaptability: Because of the simplicity of the system and the many combinations of fixtures and accessories, a full-integrated system can be designed according to the end users specific preferences.

No Heat or Ultraviolet: Heat and Ultra-violet filters combined with the transmission quality of the fiber eliminate virtually all infrared and ultra-violet radiation. This is particularly important for display cases and museum lighting.
